Killed By Standards

People are always afraid of what other people may say because people are too quick to judge. There are always people talking about this and that and that person. People always find something to talk about and this got me thinking today. What if everyone just stopped judging each other? What if all these people who find themselves holier than other people stopped judging? What if all these ‘Christians’ who are always quick to point out other people’s flaws and mistakes just took a mirror to focus on their own flaws and at least advice rather than judge? There are many people who have given up on their dreams simply because of what society would say about them.. There are people who have committed suicide because they couldn’t handle it anymore, the pressure had got to them. The ‘social standard’ pressure had finally got to them.

As youngsters, we are advised to live the life we want but once we live that life, the same people saying that are quick to judge. They say ‘the youth is out of control’ but really has the other generations ever had it in hand? From what I see, nothing has ever been prefect. People been having children at young ages way before we came into the scenes, adultery has been happening and everyone been turning a blind eye on it but if a young couple divorce, they start talking about how these young people don’t know about love and are just messing everything up. But then people tend not to see what effect judging has on other people. Some people are afraid of falling in love because they are afraid of what people are going to say after it all goes sour. The name calling, everything. So, that’s what we’ve come to? Being afraid of falling in love because we are afraid of the critics waiting for everything to go wrong? Shame.

There is a fine line between judging and giving advice or reminding someone and you don’t always have to say something about what another person is doing. Sometimes minding your own business is the right thing to do. Lets stop killing dreams before they are even dreamt. Lets stop pointing out the flaws of a thief while you are sleeping with the thief’s wife. How does that make you better? Like Kanye West once said, ‘We’ve got a hundred years out here, a hundred years on this planet, bro, and we can hae a utopia. We can love each other. But the rules gotta be fair.’

Let us stop sleeping better at night at the expense of other people. Lets try and live together in peace and harmony. Stay Positive and Happy.

And this time you quote your hero Mr West himself. Brilliant writing Theo really. I particularly like the part about the hypocritical nature of religious people.
